The other day as I was running I had a revelation about how the memory process works. I realized in all the glory of the human mind the memory remains as permanent as any other. The walls of information overran my thoughts and I felt "home" in a way./ I've come up with a way of linking memories like searching through wikipedia.
Focus on one thought and if any others come grab them and find any data you can in them. You can keep pushing until you find something. I'm talking long term memories here by the way.
Use the feelings certain scenes have to reestablish a connection to your youth. It has brought me more happiness than anything. Which is why I've begun work on an art project that utilizes all sensory information in order to become more memory aware.
You know, the first line reminds me of something I once realized. As permanent as our memory is, it's almost impossible to share, at least with the level of feeling it deserves.

Nice post. I trigger memories from weird shit sometimes; I can't remember the stuff I need to but sometimes I can't forget dumb stuff like an address or phone number from way back when.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what can trigger memories and they so often come unbidden for me. Out of nowhere I remember something I thought I had forgotten with great clarity.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an interesting art project, keep us updated with that!
ReplyDeleteThis would be very handy for University. I'm defiantly following.
ReplyDeleteTake care of your memories, sometimes they are the only thing that remains of some people.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I've never dwelt too much on memories, didn't realize there was so much to it.
ReplyDeleteI feel people should focus more on their memories before they loss it...
ReplyDeleteInteresting thoughts, memories store many treasures either forgot or yet to be found
ReplyDeleteFor me, almost anything triggers a memory for me. If I see a yellow crayon, for example, I would remember coloring as a little kid.
